Top Tip 15 - Easier 24 hour Holter monitor fitting now available

24 ECG monitoring has been available from SARC for some time. We now have a range of breathable neoprene jackets especially made for Holter monitoring.

Historically we have used bandage material to fit and hold the holter monitor in place for the required 24 hours.

Although satisfactory for the job, bandaging of a monitor to the pet's back was both time consuming and wasteful of bandage material. In some cases bandages slipped and the monitor needed to be re-fitted.

Through Dogs In Motion Canine Rehabilitation, who run the physiotherapy service at SARC, we now have access to breathable neoprene jackets to fit most dogs. The jackets take under a minute to fit (after the ECG electrodes have been attached) on most patients and have a strap to keep the monitor in place.

We are now offering clinics the option of hiring a jacket when using borrowing the monitor to make process simpler and easier for the client, vet and patient.

Below is a simple demonstration of fitting a jacket to show how easy it is.
