Radiation Update: Feline Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma Study

The deep radiation therapy facility at the Southern Animal Referral Centre continues to deliver results for cancer patients. Just one area in which immediate results are being seen is the treatment of feline squamous cell carcinomas.

Several patients have been through the feline cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma study launched just before Christmas. All patients have shown promising signs from initial treatments. Clinical signs from all patients at 14 days have shown significant improvement as compared to treatment day clinical presentation.

Patients receive a once-off treatment rather than a 15 treatment course. The treatment itself takes only a few short minutes and patients can go home the same day. Patients undergo an anaesthetic and are monitored for complete recovery prior to discharge.

The study remains open for a once-off treatment of feline cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas at a cost of only $750. This is around 20% of the cost of a full course radiation treatment!

If you have any feline patients suffering from cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, please do not hesitate to contact the Southern Animal Referral Centre on (03) 9532 5261 for more information or to book a referral.
