Physio Update – Offering more for your Arthritis Patients

The physiotherapy department is seeing more and more arthritis patients as physiotherapeutic treatment is incorporated into an overall treatment plan for the condition. As we head into Winter, physiotherapy can provide effective treatment and respite for arthritis suffers.

The colder months are often harder for arthritic dogs. Owners often report that their pets have more trouble with the condition during this time of your. Physiotherapy is extremely effective as a contributing therapy in the management of arthritis and can help to keep the Winter blues at bay. Coupled with medical management, patients can actually improve during this time of year.

Physiotherapy for arthritis couples a home exercise program with physiotherapy assessments and underwater treadmill (UTWM) hydrotherapy sessions. This helps to keep pets active, build muscle mass and improve flexibility and mobility under close supervision of a fully qualified physiotherapist.

Information was provided in last month's SARC Pulse newsletter on this topic for interested readers, and physiotherapists Michelle Monk and Lisa Watson are always most happy to chat to clients or referring vets about strategies for tackling arthritis using physiotherapy.

Packages are available today for your arthritis patients. If you or your clients wish to know more about arthritis management using physiotherapy, please call the Centre on 03 9532 5261 for more information.
