Minimally Invasive Surgery

The Centre offers an extensive range of minimally invasive surgery techniques for small animals. These techniques make use of highly specialised miniature cameras in broad range of situations. The cameras are used to visualise many bodily structures not easily accessible by standard surgery techniques without significant trauma. This allows for better diagnostics and treatment for a large number of conditions where surgery may be appropriate.

In many circumstances owners have the option of choosing a minimally invasive technique for standard procedures, allowing their pets to recover more quickly.

Offerings in this area range from abdominal, thoracic and cranial "keyhole" surgery, exploratory procedures involving the digestive tract, trachea and upper lungs, nasal passages and urinary tracts.

Minimally invasive surgery is applicable in both preventative procedures, such as prophylactic gastropexies to prevent gastric torsion in large breed dogs, as well as in a large range of surgically curative procedures.
