12 Days of Emergency Christmas - Twelve Seizure Watches

24 December 2011

If your pet suffers from epilepsy or some other form of neurological condition, it is important that they are properly supervised and medicated over the holiday period.

Ensure that you have a full supply of any regular medication your pet receives for his or her condition. If going away, please also ensure that the person caring for your pet is well versed in when and how to give the medication, and where they can seek medical treatment if your pet has a seizure.

For pets which have seizures, close observation is required to ensure that help can be provided promptly in the event of further seizure. This is termed a ‘seizure watch’.

SARC is open 24 hours over the holiday period and we are happy to assist. Our phone number is 03 9532 5261.

On behalf of all the staff at SARC, please have a wonderful holiday season and a restful break!

On the twelfth day of Christmas in pet emergency, we saw:

Twelve seizure watches
Eleven trauma patients
Ten parvo puppies
Nine coughing cavvies
Eight diabetics
Seven foreign bodies
