12 Days of Emergency Christmas - Six Inoculations
18 December 2011
Many owners are putting their pets into kennels or catteries at this time of year. Some do not realise that their pet’s vaccinations need to be fully up to date. This week is the time to cross the annual booster off your list at your regular vet before the opportunity is lost.
Some emergency centres may vaccinate pets over the Christmas period if absolutely necessary and they have stocks of the appropriate vaccine, but this both an expensive and unreliable strategy. Emergency centres typically do not carry vaccines and only in very limited numbers when they do. If you suspect your pet will require vaccinations for the holiday period, now is the time to organise this at your regular vet.
Please call your vet to arrange this. If your vet is unavailable, the staff at SARC are happy to discuss general queries over the phone, but we do not carry vaccines.

On the sixth day of Christmas in pet emergency, we saw:
Six inoculations
Five HGEs
Four stitch ups
Three lost dogs
Two heat strokes
And a chocolate toxicity
